FOURTEEN South Fremantle products remain on AFL club lists in 2014 and continue to make a big impact led by Brandon Matera starring for the Gold Coast Suns, and veterans Clint Jones and Paul Duffield continuing to shine for St Kilda and Fremantle respectively.

Since the AFL draft was introduced in 1986, South Fremantle has provided the national league with some all-time great players including Peter Sumich, Peter Matera, Glen Jakovich, Darren Gaspar, Phil Matera, James Clement, Dean Rioli, Andrew Krakouer and Roger Hayden, and the current crop of AFL-listed players from the Bulldogs are certainly continuing to do well also.

JACOB Dragovich, Matthew Ah Siu, Jarrod Pickett, Bill Frampton, Kade Stewart and Brad McPhail have all made at least one appearance in the WA team in the current NAB U18 Championships for 2014.

While the results haven’t gone the way WA would have hoped in losses to South Australia, Vic Metro and South Australia again so far to open the National 18s Championships, the six South Fremantle players have all acquitted themselves well.

And with South Fremantle's colts having won premierships in 2011 and 2012, and then again making the grand final in 2013, it's no surprise to continue to see the club's development programs continue to churn out talent that is shining on the national stage.

IT WAS a tremendous day to celebrate WAFL football at Fremantle Oval on Monday but in the end South Fremantle went down to East Fremantle by 15 points in the Foundation Derby on WA Day.

Almost 6000 fans attended Fremantle Oval for the annual Foundation Derby on WA Day in what also served as the last WAFL appearance for 303-game WAFL champion Kris Miller in what is the biggest day for the competition in any given season.

DYLAN Ross has emerged over the past 12 months as one of the best key defenders in the WAFL but his focus is on trying to get a win for South Fremantle over East Fremantle to both keep the Bulldogs alive in the finals hunt and send Kris Miller off victorious.

Ross will play his 50th WAFL match in the Foundation Derby at Fremantle Oval on WA Day this Monday having started his career with Claremont as a centre half-forward when he broke through for his league debut in 2009.

Kris Miller's remarkably consistent and outstanding WAFL career will come to an end this Monday as the Bulldogs take on the Sharks at Fremantle Oval in what will double as his 150th match with South Fremantle and the last of his 303-game career with both clubs.
