PARKER TO PLAY FINALS FOOTY
South Fremantle Football Club is pleased to confirm that our 2021 Richmond Tigers Mid-Season draftee Matty Parker has been temporarily released to the Bulldogs to compete in the 2021 Optus WAFL Finals Series.
Both South Fremantle and Richmond, with the endorsement of the West Australian Football Commission, reached an agreement this week to allow Parker to play in the Finals Series before returning to the Tigers for the 2022 AFL Season.
Richmond selected Parker with pick No.10 in the 2021 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, and he went on to play six games in 2021, averaging 13 disposals.
A star of the WAFL competition, Parker was drafted following a Round 8 best-on-ground performance for the Bulldogs, collecting four goals from 26 possessions, along with nine marks.
South Fremantle WAFL Coach Todd Curley welcomes the news on the eve of the 2021 Finals series.
“Matt is one of ours and was voted into the leadership group in 2021.”
“He trained hard all summer, played with us until drafted and has remained invested in our team after his return to the AFL with the Richmond Football Club."
“Matt, our players and our coaches are all excited to have him back and involved for finals.”
“We value the ongoing positive relationship built between the South Fremantle Football Club and the Richmond Football Club, and we thank them for the support of this outcome,” Curley said.
South Fremantle host Claremont in the Qualifying Final this Saturday, September 11, 2.40 pm at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
