Bulldogs bounce back in style downing Thunder

Tuesday, April 4, 2017 - 1:57 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle bounced back from a loss last week to end the winning run of reigning premiers Peel Thunder with an impressive 43-point win at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Peel came into the game having not lost since Round 22 last year. The Thunder went on to win the last five games of 2016 on the way to a maiden premiership before impressive wins to start 2017 against East Perth and East Fremantle.

That meant they were full of confidence heading into Saturday's clash at home to South Fremantle who they beat in last year's preliminary final.

Friday, March 31, 2017 - 4:48 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle started the season so impressively and now after a hiccup last week will look to bounce back hard this Saturday against Peel Thunder in Mandurah.

The Bulldogs were tremendous in Round 1 against Subiaco winning by 39 points before an inaccurate and inefficient performance against Swan Districts last week.

However, South Fremantle now heads to Bendigo Bank Stadium looking to rebound straightaway up against a Peel team coming off winning the 2016 premiership and who has now won seven games in-a-row.

Player Column – Cory Dell'Olio Round 3

Thursday, March 30, 2017 - 4:44 PM - by Cory Dell\\\'Olio

I HAVE to admit a big reason I was determined to return with South Fremantle this year was to play on with Adam Guglielmana. He is one of my best mates and I was looking forward to that, but unfortunately he has decided to retire and he definitely deserves some recognition.

I really wanted to come back to finish off my career with SFFC as I have some good friends at the club and the place means a lot to me. I was super excited to play with one of my best mates this year in Googs but he unfortunately retired just before pre-season. Now I have to hang out with Brock Higgins and that’s not ideal.

On the topic, not much has been said about Adam’s retirement and I think that’s the way he would like it but he deserves a lot of credit for a great career he had. He put everything into his time here at SFFC both on and off the field and is a great role model for a lot of young guys coming up through the ranks. On another positive for Adam he has really taken a liking to the retirement life and his bench press has gone down from a max of 35kg to a stunning 20kg but he's happy and that’s the main thing.

SOUTH Fremantle has won its last four matches over Swan Districts and will look to continue that run going on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.

Swan Districts and South Fremantle both made winning starts to their 2017 WAFL seasons last Saturday and will be looking to continue that momentum on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.

Swans had a disastrous season in 2016 but is already halfway to reaching that win tally following last week's 12-point win over Perth at Steel Blue Oval.

Player Column – Adam McIntosh Round 2

Friday, March 24, 2017 - 5:58 PM - by Adam McIntosh

IT was an awesome feeling to get back out there again on Saturday. Watching on for six months after I broke my leg and then when the team is playing so well you just want to be part of it and it's pretty tough sitting there watching. It was definitely a tough six months and the rehab is the hardest thing I've had to go through.

I did my knee back in 2011 and this was a lot tougher for a number of reasons with the rehab. I'm a bit older now so don’t bounce back as quickly and I also I knew the boys were preparing to play finals and I just wanted to be out there, but knew I couldn’t be.

To be honest I think our last pre-season game was when I got a bit more emotional to be back out there, so I was just relieved to be out there last Saturday in Round 1. I was a bit anxious to see how I would go again but it was handy in that pre-season game against Claremont that the ball seemed to keep coming to me so that helped with my confidence.
