Todd Curley Q and A – ANZAC Day Derby

Saturday, April 29, 2017 - 12:30 PM - by Matt Barnsley

SOUTH Fremantle coach Todd Curley speaking after the Bulldogs' ANZAC Day Derby victory over East Fremantle ahead of the bye this week and then a clash with Perth at Lathlain Park in Round 8.

QUESTION: If I told you when you were 19 points down midway through the third quarter that you'd win by 41 and it could have been more, you would have taken that?
ANSWER:
Definitely we would take the four points before the game anytime, especially in a derby. Looks like we got through unscathed, we certainly weren’t at our best I thought we warmed to it half way through the third quarter. To kick 13.22 and have 68 inside 50’s the score board maybe doesn’t do it justice but I guess that’s down to East Fremantle’s pressure to force us not to play our way.

Bulldogs kick away to beat Sharks in ANZAC Day Derby

Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 1:05 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle couldn’t capitalise on some dominance for two and-a-half quarters before delivering 10 of the last 12 goals to beat East Fremantle by 41 points in the ANZAC Day Derby.

The Sharks came into the clash at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on ANZAC Day desperate for a first victory of 2017 and looked a real chance of achieving that when leading by 19 points midway through the third quarter.

However, from that point on South Fremantle got rolling and kicked the next eight goals to set up the eventual 13.22 (100) to 9.5 (59) victory.

Player Column – Josh Pullman Round 6

Friday, April 21, 2017 - 9:46 AM - by Josh Pullman

THE two wins in the league and reserves last weekend against Claremont were important. The senior sides are putting together some solid football recently, and it’s great to be a part of.

Although winning games is a good outcome, our focus has been working hard on the small things we can control before we even arrive at the ground on game day.

Earlier this season, our leadership coach Bruce Willis introduced the leadership group to the importance of ‘marginal gains’ in our preparation.

Match Day Info – ANZAC Day Derby

Thursday, April 20, 2017 - 12:48 AM

SOUTH Fremantle sits on top of the WAFL heading into Round 6 on the back of three thumping wins ahead of the Anzac Day Derby up against East Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The Bulldogs have beaten Peel Thunder by 43 points, West Perth by 103 and Claremont by 65 the previous three weeks to move to top spot after five rounds.

That means South Fremantle heads into the first derby of 2017 full of confidence against the winless East Fremantle, but everyone knows anything can happen in a derby.

This is the now traditional Anzac Derby between the two clubs and bouncedown will be at 4.10pm with the game broadcast live on 7mate from 4pm.

Coach Post Match – Todd Curley Round 5

Thursday, April 20, 2017 - 12:20 AM - by Chris Pike

WHAT South Fremantle coach Todd Curley had to say following a 65-point win over Claremont on Good Friday that took the Bulldogs to top spot on the WAFL ladder.

QUESTION: You must have been happy with another strong performance?
ANSWER: I thought we were really good, especially early when the game was up for grabs in the first quarter. Then it got a bit slippery for everyone and it was a bit untidy and the second quarter wasn’t that good. But our response and intensity in the second was pretty good even though obviously they were down a few soldiers right at the end. But we'll take the four points no doubt.
