Coach Post Match – Todd Curley Round 4

Tuesday, April 24, 2018 - 1:20 PM - by Chris Pike

WHAT South Fremantle coach Todd Curley had to say following Sunday's 94-point ANZAC Derby victory against East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval.

QUESTION: You must enjoying coming here to play at East Fremantle Oval?
ANSWER: Yeah I think the most pleasing thing was that I think we were pretty solid for four quarters. It was our most consistent performance for a while and it was in tricky conditions. Obviously we would have liked to kick a bit straighter but I thought we were pretty good.

Q: You started well and didn’t let up all day, it was about as emphatic a performance as you could get?
A: There was a lot to be pleased about. The three young guys that came in did well and had an impact on the game. But I thought we had a much greater spread of contributors than we've had in the first two rounds. We were disappointed after Round 2 against Subi where we were pretty good for two and-a-half quarters and then really fell away. Last week we were OK and West Perth played pretty well to put us under pressure. We knew if East Fremantle had a look they could certainly cut us up and they can move the ball quick, but we were able to hold them up.

South Fremantle, Freo Derbies cherished Sumich memories

Sunday, April 22, 2018 - 2:28 PM - by Chris Pike

HE might have made his mark kicking 514 goals as a dual AFL premiership player with the West Coast Eagles, but Peter Sumich grew up dreaming of playing in a Fremantle Derby for South Fremantle and not only did he achieve that but was part of the 1997 Bulldogs' premiership winning side.

As East Fremantle prepares to host South Fremantle in the now annual Anzac Fremantle Derby this Sunday at East Fremantle Oval, Sumich took time out to reflect on what the Fremantle Derbies mean to him and how proud he is still to see them play such a big part in the WA football landscape.

Sumich grew up supporting South Fremantle and attending derbies dreaming one day of pulling on the Red V jumper and running out for his beloved Bulldogs up against the hated East Fremantle.

Bulldogs hit back to win again over the Falcons

Tuesday, April 17, 2018 - 2:10 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle shook off a slow start to continue their strong form at HBF Arena and winning a seventh straight win against West Perth winning by eight points on Sunday.

Coming off the 58-point loss in Round 2 to Subiaco on the back of the opening round bye, falling 24 points by quarter-time on Sunday against West Perth wasn’t what South Fremantle was after.

But the Bulldogs responded with four goals in the first nine minutes of the second term and that set the stage for a tight contest the rest of the way. Read More [+]

Round 3 Preview v West Perth

Saturday, April 14, 2018 - 6:39 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle didn’t start the 2018 WAFL season how the Bulldogs hoped but now it's up to HBF Arena on Sunday in Round 3 at a venue the Red V has grown accustomed to winning at against West Perth.

South Fremantle had the opening round bye and certainly looked a little rusty still last Saturday losing to a rampant Subiaco by 58 points in the twilight fixture at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

It was anything but the way South Fremantle hoped to start the new season on the back of reaching preliminary finals the past two WAFL seasons, but the Bulldogs now head to a venue on Sunday they have always played well at and against a team they have a strong recent record opposing.

Tough season opener for Bulldogs against Lions

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 - 2:49 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle didn’t have the opening to the 2018 season it was hoping for going down to Subiaco on Saturday by 58 points at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The Bulldogs did pick up the momentum with three goals in a six-minute stretch halfway through the second quarter to take the lead.
