Bulldogs hit back to win again over the Falcons

Tuesday, April 17, 2018 - 2:10 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle shook off a slow start to continue their strong form at HBF Arena and winning a seventh straight win against West Perth winning by eight points on Sunday.

Coming off the 58-point loss in Round 2 to Subiaco on the back of the opening round bye, falling 24 points by quarter-time on Sunday against West Perth wasn’t what South Fremantle was after.

But the Bulldogs responded with four goals in the first nine minutes of the second term and that set the stage for a tight contest the rest of the way. Read More ...

Round 3 Preview v West Perth

Saturday, April 14, 2018 - 6:39 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle didn’t start the 2018 WAFL season how the Bulldogs hoped but now it's up to HBF Arena on Sunday in Round 3 at a venue the Red V has grown accustomed to winning at against West Perth.

South Fremantle had the opening round bye and certainly looked a little rusty still last Saturday losing to a rampant Subiaco by 58 points in the twilight fixture at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

It was anything but the way South Fremantle hoped to start the new season on the back of reaching preliminary finals the past two WAFL seasons, but the Bulldogs now head to a venue on Sunday they have always played well at and against a team they have a strong recent record opposing.

Tough season opener for Bulldogs against Lions

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 - 2:49 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle didn’t have the opening to the 2018 season it was hoping for going down to Subiaco on Saturday by 58 points at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The Bulldogs did pick up the momentum with three goals in a six-minute stretch halfway through the second quarter to take the lead.

But from there the Lions kicked 13 of the last 17 goals of the game to end up winning 18.12 (120) to 9.8 (62). Read More ...

Round 2 Preview v Subiaco

Saturday, April 7, 2018 - 8:58 AM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle has had to wait an extra week but will look to begin its 2018 WAFL season in style on Saturday against Subiaco at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

South Fremantle has reached preliminary finals the past two years and the Bulldogs are looking to further improve on that now in 2018.

After the opening round bye, the quest to do that begins on Saturday against Subiaco at the port with the twilight bouncedown time of 4.15pm.

Delivering when it matters most the focus for Bulldogs

Friday, April 6, 2018 - 11:37 AM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle has put together two strong WAFL seasons reaching two preliminary finals but coach Todd Curley knows for the Bulldogs to take the next step they need to start being able to deliver when it matters most against powerhouses like Peel Thunder and Subiaco.

Having not played finals between 2012 and 2015, South Fremantle became a top team again by 2016 in Curley's second season at the helm as coach.

They finished both the 2016 and 2017 seasons in second position at the end of the home and away campaigns. In 2016, they went on to thrash West Perth in the qualifying final before losing to Subiaco in the second semi-final and then Peel Thunder in the preliminary final.

Garlett thrives on AFL return with brother cheering him on

Friday, April 6, 2018 - 8:38 AM - by Chris Pike

HAVING returned home last year and being prepared to give up his AFL dream to be nearer his sick brother, Jarrod Garlett returned strongly to South Fremantle in 2017 and couldn’t be happier to now be back in the big time at Carlton and to have had that same brother there to cheer him up.

Garlett was initially taken at selection No. 15 by the Gold Coast Suns in the 2014 AFL Draft and went on to play 17 games over the next two seasons, looking on track to build himself a strong career in the big time.

But family came first. His brother was dealing with some serious health concerns and he just couldn’t bring himself to remain living over the other side of the country while that was happening.

TABtouch supports South Fremantle footy

March 27, 2018

TABtouch, the wagering arm of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) have partnered with South Fremantle FC in an exciting new initiative that will see our club directly benefit from the partnership.
As a part of the agreement TABtouch will give us a portion of every dollar bet when a new TABtouch account is opened and when any bet is placed at our games.

RWWA General Manager Wagering Michael Saunders said TABtouch is proudly Western Australian and a passionate supporter of local footy.

“Join TABtouch today through your local WAFL club and a portion of every bet you place will go directly back to your football club,” said Saunders.

“Whether you’re placing a bet on sports or on racing, at home or on the go, your club will see the reward.”
The new partnership is aimed at supporting the development and sustainability of football in WA through providing an additional revenue stream for the clubs that they can use for venue enhancements, entertainment and equipment.

The TAB has had a vested interest in supporting the sport and recreation industry in WA, and for many years through community partnerships, has given an estimated $150million back into the WA community each year.

Dedication pays off as Kelly prepares for AFL debut

Saturday, March 24, 2018 - 4:20 PM - by Chris Pike

THIS time last year Tim Kelly was preparing for another strong WAFL season with South Fremantle and was a father of one, now all of a sudden the father of three is preparing for his AFL debut with Geelong and it's hard to imagine anyone more deserving.

Kelly came through the ranks at South Fremantle and was part of a successful colts team as a talented junior. He was able to quickly translate that into becoming a regular league player with the Bulldogs by the second half of the 2012 season.

He continued to improve year on year with it a surprise that he hadn’t been put on an AFL list by the time the 2017 season started. But by the finish of last season, Kelly could no longer be ignored having had a simply brilliant season in a Bulldogs team that reached a second straight preliminary final.
