Third knee reconstruction a horror blow for Parry

Friday, February 5, 2016 - 5:25 PM - by Chris Pike

ONE of South Fremantle's emerging leaders has received some devastating news ahead of the 2016 WAFL season with Jarrod Parry rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament at training this week meaning he will require a third reconstruction.

It's a terrible blow to Parry who has continued to display tremendous ability to perform as a leader and in his own right throughout his 34 game career with South Fremantle since making his debut in 2010.

Throughout 2015, despite an injury hiccup midway through he had a relatively smooth run ending up playing 14 of the 20 matches and all indications were that he was gearing up for a strong 2016 campaign coming off what was likely the best pre-season campaign of his career.

SOUTH Fremantle's campaign towards the start of the 2016 WAFL season is heating up with an official intra-club match and two pre-season matches against rival clubs not far away.

It has been a long pre-season program for the Bulldogs after a disappointing finish to the 2015 season again missing finals for a fourth straight season, but no stone is being left unturned coming into 2016 to rectify that.

While South Fremantle has lost some experience in the form of Craig White, Paul Mugambwa, Kyle Hams, Dylan Ross, Toby Bairstow and unfortunately Cory Dell'Olio coming into the new season, there is plenty of good news.

Callum Ah Chee to continue Bulldogs' AFL Draft tradition

Monday, November 23, 2015 - 12:19 PM - by Chris Pike

CALLUM Ah Chee appears set to be South Fremantle's second exciting Indigenous talent taken in the top 10 of the AFL National Draft in as many years when the 2015 edition takes place in Adelaide on Tuesday evening.

Just 12 months after Jarrod Pickett was taken at pick No. 4 by the GWS Giants and the Gold Coast Suns selected Jarrod Garlett at No. 15, Ah Chee will be the next South Fremantle product to enter the AFL as a prodigious talent.

Ah Chee has long been looked at as an AFL player of the future having been involved with the AIS-AFL Academy, but until Round 16 of this year he had yet to play against men which is what has just about guaranteed him as a top selection at this year's draft.
