UPPER GREAT SOUTHERN RAMS PROGRAM
Yesterday our staff attended the 3rd week of the Upper Great Southern Rams program in Narrogin. The UGS Rams program is part of our regional talent pathway, and provides opportunities for players from the Upper Great Southern region to get high level coaching and potentially play for South Fremantle.
The program is delivered in Narrogin by the Stephen Michael Foundation with coaches Liam Anthony and Tony Micale, assisted by Gavin De Gruchy and a group of local coaches.
The sessions are run for boys and girls aged 13 – 18, where they are taken through conditioning, skills and gameplay. The program runs once a week until July and culminates with a regional 15s Carnival in Perth and Country Colts Carnival (location TBC) where they can put their skills to the test.
Last night was attended by Dan Marie (Talent Manager), Charlie Burke (Manager, Male Football), Marty Atkins (Manager, Community and Female Football) and Alex Webster (Colts and Futures Strength & Conditioning Coordinator). The group was put through a range of tests including the yo-yo, 20m sprint and agility (T test) which will be used as a baseline for South Fremantle to assess their progress throughout the season.
