Women's Football - Coach Update

Tuesday, August 27, 2019 - 11:36 AM

SENIOR WOMEN

SUNDAY was another extremely positive weekend for Women's Football at South Fremantle. It was great seeing the 18s finish off the home and away season with another impressive win, which has them finishing top of the table. Our senior girls came out firing and got off to the best start to a game so far this season kicking five majors in the first term.

We knew that West Perth have been in good form and to their credit they came back strongly in the second half. Chloe (Ronnie) Taylor was great all game across half-back and really stood up when times got tough in the second half. I thought the clear standout of the day was Jenelle Heard who celebrated her 150th game with four goals, a 150th to be remembered for Miley.

There is some great positivity around the playing group leading into our first final this Sunday against Claremont who are without a doubt still the team to beat this season. This season has seen us play 42 players through our senior team, which at times has been a little difficult for those that have been missing out.

Our focus for the season was to give ourselves as a club the best opportunity to enter the League competition in 2020, to our girls I want to thank you for your selflessness and dedication to the club as a whole as I am sure like most players you all wanted to be playing each week.

But to continually turn up week in week out improving your own games while supporting your team mates has been great. Lets make sure as a group we finish the season of strongly and show the League we can be a force in 2020.

YOUTH GIRLS

On Sunday the Youth Girls finished the final game of the home and away season against West Perth with a win. The girls finished top of the ladder and three games clear and head into next week's second semi-final full of confidence and looking forward to the challenge of beating Peel.

To finish top of the ladder is an outstanding achievement with so many new girls playing their first season of Rogers Cup. The girls are looking forward to the finals and understand that they need to continue to work hard and stay focused to have a strong finals series. We as a group and club look forward to the weeks ahead.
