Hall of Fame Report

Hall of Fame Booklet

One of the greatest nights in the Club’s 112 year history was held last Thursday evening – 31st October 2011, when 45 of our most outstanding players and officials were inducted into the South Fremantle Football Club’s Hall of Fame.
The evening commenced with the induction of Griff John, founder of the club in 1900 and concluded with the induction of Brownlow Medallist, Brad Hardie, who commenced his playing career with the Bulldogs in 1979.
Many families travelled from the Eastern seaboard and in many cases grand children of the deceased players and officials were present to receive the Hall of Fame medallion.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening and one-eyed South’s supporter, Peter Waltham, entertained the 400 strong crowd with anecdotes about player feats and performances, which are embroidered into the rich fabric of the history of the South Fremantle Football Club.
Past champions, Steve Marsh, John Todd and John Worsfold were joined by another club great, John Colgan in addressing the guests about their time spent at the club, which added to the profile of the night.
Each inductee received a specially commissioned medallion and memorabilia booklet, as well as the opportunity to purchase a (limited edition of only 100) framed Hall of Fame Posters.
Players and officials from 1980 onwards plus the second intake of past greats will be assessed for the next induction, which may be held in 2016.
